Ohio Latino Affairs Commission Announces a Voter Registration Initiative
August 11, 2011 · Print This Article
Latinos are the fastest-growing demographic in the state and accounted for the vast majority of Ohio’s population growth since 2000. Yet they remain a largely marginalized population despite the dynamic growth of the community. Marginalization can be reversed with access to the hallmarks of democracy, particularly the political process.
In partnership with community organizations, Ohio Latino Affairs is launching an initiative which will run now through the 2012 elections to register as many Hispanic Ohioans as possible. Our goal is to engage organizations to be on hand at major Latino events and actively engage partners statewide to increase the breadth of the drive to register.
The first major event for the campaign will be at :
Columbus Festival Latino
August 13 and 14 at Genoa Park in Columbus.
Bring your friends and family and take the first step toward commanding your own political influence!

Voter registration is the first step in engagement for individual Latinos, and active participation in the political process ensures that the community harnesses the influence that its growth deserves. Please come, tell your friends and register to vote!
