LORAIN – This year the Lorain International Festival’s spotlight sponsor is Lorain County Community College located in Elyria.  LCCC is considered one of the most affordable as well as academically enriched community college’s in the state.  LCCC features Post Secondary Enrollment Options for high school students as well as a University.

Post secondary enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take college classes.  Many students graduate from high school with an associate’s degree.  The partnership program allows LCCC students to receive a degree from a four year instruction while never leaving the LCCC campus.

Aside from these opportunities provided by LCCC, the college also has satellite campuses throughout the county.  Dina Ferrer is the coordinator for the St. Joseph satellite located in Lorain.

“We are the only community college in the state to offer a partnership program with other state four year institutions,” said Ferrer.

Michele Timko is the marketing and Outreach coordinator in charge of event programs the college in involved with, Timko said the college is a great resource for the county and carries such a great attitude toward learning.

“We take all of the college’s information out to the home towns,” said Timko.  “We make them aware of what the college has to offer.”

As part of the International celebration, the college gave a tour of the St. Joseph satellite campus

“We have tours to show all the populations in the county what LCCC has to offer,” said Ferrer.  “We will have a presence at all the events, including a table at the International Festival.”

Ferrer considers the college being a spotlight sponsor of the International Festival a privilege and it is her goal to make sure the college continues to be actively involved in the community.

“It’s all about reminding people that we are here for them,” said Timko.

A volunteer team of marketing assistants, are coordinating the week’s events for the college, aside from all the activities LCCC will be involved with for the week, the president will be part of the International Parade as well.

“Dr. Church will be the grand marshal of the parade,” said Timko.  “That is very exiting.”
